What is love according to you? Well, I hope it’s not Lust.
Is it a deal between two parties? A commitment?A ‘you’re mine’/‘I am yours’ promise? Fiction? A beautiful feeling or is it just a disappointment for you?
Well, A big thanks to the ‘Film Industry’ for it is because of them that we have so diversified meanings of love. It is because of them that Raj is still waiting for his Simran, it is because of them that Harry has finally met Sejal, it is because of them that Sonu and Titu are still fighting over Sweety, it is because of them that Kabir Singh is still depresssed over his lost love Preeti, it is because of them that Devdas is still drunk. All this chaos is because of them.
Everybody has their own and unique definition of love nowadays. It is because of the film industry that we perceive love so erroneous. It is because movies like Ashiqui 2, The Notebook, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Fifty Shades, Kabir Singh, Crazy Rich Asians that we have such high expectations, hopes and desires when it comes to love. Everybody wants a Prince Charming/Cindrella.
In today’s world, the word ‘Relationship’ has become the new synonym of ‘Love’. Everybody is trying to find their soulmates by dating. As if they’re trying to find their ideal sofa set, they try the set for a while, if they find the furniture comfortable and apt according to their needs then they buy it and if they do not find it enough, then they just let it be there while they hop onto another.
It’s high time people must understand that love is not a Netflix free trial.
Nowadays, I think the only true and pure form of love left is between a parent and a child. A parent loves their children UNCONDITIONALLY regardless of how their child treats them. They always love and protect their child, no matter what. They do not seek anything in return, they do not have any hidden motives. They just love them as it is. And I think thats’s the kind of love one must crave and seek.
By the way, not all the movies have portrayed love in the wrong manner. Some like ‘Khuda Hafiz’ and ‘Crash landing on you’ have exhibited it in the exact sense too.
Love is not give and take, it’s give and give cause it’s unconditional.
Very well articulated.
